Doha, October 18 (QNA) - The representation office of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in the Gaza Strip has provided hospitals of the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) with a first batch of medicines and medical consumables.
Aimed at helping the hospitals to continue providing health services for the wounded, these QR 729,000 supplies are part of QRCSs emergency intervention to relieve those affected by the war on Gaza.
Assistant General Manager of Pharmacy at MOH, Dr. Zikri Abu Qamar said the ministrys warehouses had 48 percent and 28 percent shortages in medicines and medical consumables, respectively, just one day prior to the war.
He added, "The recent support from QRCS covers about 10 percent of our needs. I call on international organizations and donors to secure more medical aid, in order to reduce the current USD 3 million shortage, as large numbers of injuries are received by hospitals every day." A team from QRCSs office in Gaza visited Palestine Red Crescent Societys (PRCS) Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis, to monitor the provision of medical care and talk to the injured.
QRCS had already provided two operating rooms at Al-Amal Hospital with medical equipment. Medicines, medical equipment, and supplies are being delivered to the hospital, to ensure continuity of services. Also, QRCS is planning to install solar panels at the hospital, to deal with the fuel shortage in the blockade. (QNA)
