Doha, May 04 (QNA) - Here is a summary of local news released Friday: - HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani conveyed the condolences of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to his brother HH President of the sisterly United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, on the death of the late HH Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al-Nahyan.
His Excellency also conveyed the condolences of HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani.
- The United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) Presidents Council has expressed sincere gratitude to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for His Highness's generous hosting of the Council meeting that culminated in the 'Doha Declaration," praising the mediation efforts undertaken by the State of Qatar around the world.
- HE President of the 66th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Nassir bin Abdulaziz Al Nasser said that the meeting of the UNGA Presidents Council, which was held in Doha over two days and concluded its work with the "Doha Declaration," touched on all the sensitive and urgent issues in the world, most notably the difficult humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
- The Third Tashkent International Investment Forum concluded Friday with the participation of more than 2,500 delegates and representatives from 84 countries around the world, including government officials, heads of major companies, and representatives of international organizations.
Qatar participated in the Forum, with a delegation headed by HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Mohamed bin Hassan Al Maliki.
- The Workers' Support and Insurance Fund and the International Labor Organization (ILO), in collaboration with the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum 1-2-3, organized Friday evening an entertainment and cultural event on the occasion of International Workers' Day, in the presence of about 500 workers from various companies in the country.

- HE Chairperson of Qatar National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah has praised the exerted efforts dedicated to safeguarding workers' rights, urging the continuation of work to upgrade the humanitarian conditions of all workers with respect to a wide range of human rights, health, and humanitarian fields.
- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has welcomed the decision of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to recognize the State of Palestine, considering it a significant step that is consistent with international law and relevant UN resolutions, and that contributes to enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate rights, including their right to return, to self-determination, and to embody the establishment of the independent State of Palestine, on the borders of June 4, 1967, with Al-Quds as its capital, OIC said in a statement posted on its website.
- The number of casualties due to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza enclave since October has risen to 34,622 martyrs and 77,867 injured, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Friday. (QNA)
