New York, May 28 (QNA) - United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, condemned the massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces shelling the tents of displaced persons in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens of Palestinians.
"I call upon the Israeli authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into this incident, hold those responsible for any wrongdoing to account, and take immediate steps to better protect civilians", Wennesland said in a statement.
"I am deeply troubled by the deaths of so many women and children in an area where people have sought shelter", Wennesland added, reiterating the call for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli occupation bombed a camp for displaced people west of Rafah, killing 45 Palestinians, including children and women. (QNA)
