Moscow, November 12 (QNA) - The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, won the second place in the 22nd Moscow International Quran Recitation Competition which saw the participation of reciters from 32 countries.
Abdulaziz Abdullah Ali Al Hamri, represented the State of Qatar in this prestigious Quranic competition - known globally as the Moscow Quran Contest - in the Quran memorization category.
This years Moscow Quran Contest was held under the full sponsorship and support of the Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Quran Competition of Qatar's Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, with the participation of a delegation headed by Malullah bin Abdulrahman Al Jaber, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Quran Competition, and included a number of members of the Organizing Committee.
During the award ceremony, the Organizing Committee highlighted the strong diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the State of Qatar in the fields of culture, religion, science and sports. The Organizing Committee also honored the Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Quran Competition as the key sponsor of this year's edition.
Speaking at the award ceremony, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Thani expressed thanks and appreciation to the government authorities and the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims in the Russian Federation for organizing and supervising this competition. His Excellency also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and the Organizing Committee of the Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Quran Competition.
For his part, Chairman of the Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Quran Competition Malullah bin Abdulrahman Al Jaber praised the efforts of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of the Russian Federation in organizing and supervising this prominent competition, pointing to the activities accompanying the competition, which will continue until Nov. 14 to enhance correct understanding of Islam and spread the teachings of the Holy Quran.
