Doha, December 01 (QNA) - Qatar Museums (QM) revealed today a diverse range of events that it will organize this December, targeting all members of society.
In this regard, QM will organize a conference entitled "The Future of Museums and Museology Practices in a Changing World" that will be held from December 1-3, 2024, at the Museum of Islamic Art.
The conference aims to engage the youth in valuable, rich discussions and decision-making processes. It will also explore museology practices in the Arab region, highlighting topics of sustainability, innovation, educational models, the use of modern technologies, joint artistic evaluation, balancing historical perspectives, and encouraging the sharing of knowledge between generations.
For their part, Gallery 4 at the Fire Station is hosting an exhibition titled "A House Overlooking the World," an exhibition showcasing works from the 8th edition of the Artist in Residence (AIR) program. The exhibition features the work of 17 artists who were part of the residency programme at Fire Station from 2023 to 2024.
"A House Overlooking the World" is a metaphor reflecting the need to find a sense of self in a rapidly changing world and it delves into the idea of a home within the contemporary realm. The exhibition also raises questions about identity and belonging through the eyes of the artists who got to display their artworks by exploring topics related to urban identity and what shapes it, offering an inward look at the people who are the foundation to any society.
Qatar Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (M7) is organizing an exhibition entitled Chaumet & Nature: Nature-Inspired Jewellery Since 1780 at the center's headquarters, which will be on view until 19 December 2024. This immersive exhibition explores the interplay between nature and fine jewellery, tracing Chaumet's botanical inspirations from 1780 to today.
Showcasing Maison Chaumet's remarkable heritage, the exhibition highlights Chaumet's unique designs that celebrate the vitality of the natural world. This features 107 jewellery pieces and 111 visual artworks, offering visitors an evocative journey into 240 years of naturalistic design. The exhibition, which was curated by Chaumet, brings together Maison's collections and those of Qatar Museums', honouring the links the two countries have shared since the 1970s.
It is worth noting that QM continues to enrich the country's cultural scene by providing diverse and attractive experiences for citizens, residents and visitors, as the leading cultural institution in Qatar. (QNA)
