Doha, December 07 (QNA) - The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, is participating in the 31st International Holy Qu'ran Competition, currently held in Egypt from Dec.7-11.
The Qatari contestant, Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Abdul Rahim Al Haram, is representing the State of Qatar in the category of memorizing the entire Holy Qur'an with Tajweed and exegesis, as well as knowledge of the reasons for revelation after he has been nominated by the Ministry's Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance.
The competition is being held at the Egypt's Grand Mosque in the new administrative capital with the participation of 141 contests representing over 60 countries.
Director of the Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance, Malallah Abdul Rahman Al Jaber, stated that the ministry is committed to participating in Holy Qur'an international competitions in confirmation of Qatar's interest in the Holy Qur'an thanks to the strength of memorization, proficiency, and recitation of the Holy Qur'an by the Qatari young people.
Al Jaber hailed the State of Qatar's previous participations in numerous international contests, particularly the Moscow International Quran Recitation Competition, the international Quran competition of Algeria, the King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization of the Holy Quran in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, in addition to competitions held in Malaysia, Morocco, Croatia, and Kazakhstan.
He added that the ministrys last participation was in last November, in the 22nd Moscow International Quran Competition, with the contestant Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Hamri snagging the second rank in the memorization of the entire Holy Qur'an. (QNA)
